Don’t leave your car on a public street or in a city-owned lot for more than 72 hours. If you’re planning a trip, park off-street or ask someone to move your car.

We want parking to be easy and accessible. If you have a valid ADA placard (issued by Oregon or another state), here’s what you need to know:

• If you park in a space designated for 30 minutes or less, you need to move your car within that time limit.
• In gated garages, you’ll still need to pay to exit.
• If you park in an ADA space labeled specifically for wheelchair access you need to have Wheelchair User placard.
• Safety rules still apply! Don’t park:
  • In “No Parking” zones
  • In front of fire hydrants
  • On sidewalks or anywhere that blocks access.

Our Parking Compliance Officers (PCOs) are here to help you. They work for the City of Bend through a contractor and wear uniforms so they’re easy to recognize. These officers are approved by the Chief of Police to make sure parking rules are followed.

Meter Violations

Meter violations happen when parking in a metered space without paying or when paid time runs out.

• You must pay to park in metered spaces during posted hours.
• If your paid time expires, you may receive a ticket.
• In many cases, you can add more time to your parking session before it expires.
• Meter violation tickets start at $12 and increase if unpaid after 6 and 10 days.

Prohibited Parking

These tickets happen when a vehicle is parked where parking isn’t allowed:

Don’t park in:

• No Parking zones
• Areas with signs restricting parking
• Loading zones
• Bike lanes
• Fines for these tickets typically range from $50 to $115.

Other Common Tickets

These tickets are given for parking mistakes that affect safety and access, including:

• Not parking within marked lines
• Blocking traffic lanes
• Parking too close to or on crosswalks
• Parking with expired registration

ADA Parking

Tickets ADA parking rules help keep accessible spaces available for people who need them.

Higher-fine tickets apply when:

• Parking in an ADA space without a valid ADA placard
• Parking in an ADA access aisle

These tickets carry higher fines than standard parking tickets.

Downtown streets are narrow, and angled spaces often don’t fit larger vehicles. If your vehicle sticks out into the driving lane, you may receive a parking ticket.

Need more room? Try using parallel parking spaces or one of the downtown parking lots, which offer more space for larger vehicles.

The new code helps Bend keep up with growth and makes parking rules clearer. Municipal Court’s process is fair and consistent for everyone. The updated code ensures decisions are made with judicial oversight, just like traffic tickets, so everyone is treated equally.

No. Rates, time limits, and permits stay the same.

• Jan. 1: New code takes effect.
• Jan. 3: Last day tickets will be issued under the old code in the Downtown and Old Bend parking districts.
• Jan. 4 – 19: Education Campaign.
• Jan. 13: Last day to contest tickets issued on or before Jan. 3, 2026.
• Jan. 20: City begins issuing parking tickets under new code and new payment process begins for all tickets, regardless of when issued; all tickets will be paid to Municipal Court.
• Jan. 21: First day new-code tickets are available for payment.

The updated code includes rules for RVs, trailers, heavy vehicles, and alternative fueling spaces.

Parking Services will pause issuing tickets and focus on education about the new code. Anyone violating parking rules will receive a notice explaining their parking error. Vehicles creating a safety issue with their parking method will be towed.

Provide proof to Bend Municipal Court, such as a copy of the bill of sale or DMV records showing the transfer of ownership.

Tickets appear the next business day by 12 p.m. If it’s still missing after that, contact Municipal Court.

Contesting means you believe you are not guilty of the violation. You’ll enter your plea with Bend Municipal Court either online: Appearance and Entry of Plea or in-person.

You have 14 days to pay or contest before extra fees apply.

• A $50 Failure to Appear fee will be added to your ticket fine.
• After 30 days, unpaid tickets may go to collections (state law allows up to 25% collection fee).
• Other enforcement actions may apply.
