Project Outcome

The Bend City Council considered final recommendations during the January 2016 Council meetings. (View Council meeting videos) The recommendations presented to Council by the Galveston Task Force and City staff for the Galveston Corridor Improvements are as follows:

Project Goal

Develop a comprehensive improvement plan for the Galveston Avenue Corridor that addresses traffic, pedestrians, cyclists, business uses, residential uses, storm water quality and management and landscaping enhancement.

Galveston Avenue Streetscape Concept Design 10-13-14

Over a period of eight months the City of Bend worked with a community Task Force and Technical Advisory Committee to develop streetscape concept design for Galveston Avenue.

We have developed preliminary concepts with the vision and goals in mind, options to improve the safety and reduce congestion at the intersection of Galveston and Harmon and provide a location for additional on-street parking to alleviate the strain on neighbors.

Included below are references to help respond to the questionnaire include:

  • Galveston Avenue Roadway Cross Section Concepts:
    1. 3 lane section with continuous center turn lane with buffered bike lanes
    2. 3 lane section with continuous median with left turn pockets and buffered bike lanes
    3. 2 lane section with buffered bike lanes

Task Force

The Galveston Task Force is a grass roots effort by a variety of volunteers, property owners and local stakeholders to improve the Galveston corridor. The group is not sanctioned by the City Council.
