Explore the Wastewater Collection System Master Plan

The following provides a breakdown of the comprehensive Wastewater Collection System Master Plan:

Background

The Sewer Infrastructure Advisory Group (SIAG) is a team of 16 community members chosen by City Council in 2012. They worked closely with City staff to figure out what improvements were needed for the sewer system, both in the short term and long term. Their goal was to address current conditions, existing capacity, and future needs in the most cost-effective way.

Over more than two years, they held many public meetings, gave several updates to the City Council, presented to various interested groups, and hosted a public open house. The draft plan was open for public comments from September 20 to November 10, 2014. A formal process was followed to adopt the Public Facility Plan, which included:

  • October 13, 2014: Work Session with the Planning Commission
  • November 10, 2014: Public Hearing with the Planning Commission
  • November 19, 2014: Work Session with City Council
  • December 3, 2014: Council Adoption and start of public hearing for the Public Facility Plan

This process ensured that the community had a say in the improvements and that everything was done according to the rules.
