The Deschutes County Rural Fire Protection District #2 (the District) is planning to build a new fire station on NE 15th, adjacent to the Bend Police headquarters. The District invites the community to an Open House on Tuesday, March 27, from 4:00PM until 6:00PM, at the City of Bend Municipal Court (located inside the Bend Police headquarters, 555 NE 15th), to view the preliminary drawings and address any questions or concerns.

The District is a taxing entity which surrounds the City of Bend and combines resources with the Bend Fire Department to provide emergency services to all residents of the District and City.

The proposed new fire station will not only meet the needs of emergency responders but will also be a source of pride for the community and will complement the unique aspects of the Pilot Butte neighborhood.

The proposed station will be similar in appearance to the original downtown Bend fire station, with a brick façade and many of the design features of early 20th century architecture. At over 9,000 square feet, this structure can house 4 response vehicles and will help provide faster emergency services to the central part of the city. Designed to meet current seismic code standards, the structure will also be highly energy efficient.
